Miltiadis Kyrkos and the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats (S&D) hosted the exhibition entitled "Faces of Turkey", on January 7th to 11th, 2019. The exhibition brought together 11 Turkish NGOs and 2 individuals working in autism early diagnosis, children leuchemia, women's shelter, HIV+ awareness-raising, education for children with one or no parents, library for the visually-impaired, fatherhood training.
Parliament wants EU countries to be able to rapidly add these so-called legal highs to their lists of illegal drugs. An early warning system already exists, but MEPs want assessments to be carried out faster so that substances thought to be harmful can be banned. Parliament has already agreed a final version of the proposal with the Council. On Tuesday 24 October MEPs voted on an update of existing legislation.
The European Court ruled today against Hungary and Slovakia’s appeal against the EU decision to relocate refugees from Greece and Italy, stating that the scheme “actually contributes to enabling Greece and Italy to deal with the impact of the migration crisis and is proportionate”. Both Hungary and Slovakia had appealed to annul the decision, which foresaw the relocation of 120,000 asylum-seekers.
